What a patch repair is

A patch repair removes only the damaged part of a vinyl floor and replaces it with matched material, hot-welded into the surrounding flooring. Done properly, it gives a sealed, durable finish and keeps the rest of the room in use. Whether a patch is suitable depends on the condition of the existing flooring and the subfloor beneath it.

Common damage

Vinyl floor damage we patch repair.

Most damage to commercial vinyl is local. A dropped item, a dragged machine or a failed seam affects a small area while the rest of the floor stays sound. That is where patch repairs make sense.

  • Tears and cuts
  • Burns and scorch marks
  • Damaged sections and gouges
  • Failed seams and open welds
  • Localised water damage
  • Flooring damaged by equipment or trolleys
  • Previous poor repairs put right
  • Small areas that need replacing
How we do it

How a vinyl patch repair is carried out.

We cut out the damaged area to a clean shape, check and prepare the subfloor, then fit a matched piece of vinyl. Joints are grooved and hot-welded so the patch is sealed into the floor. On safety flooring we use matching safety vinyl so the repaired area has the same type of surface as the rest of the floor.

We match colour and pattern as closely as possible. On older, faded or discontinued floors an exact match is not always available, so we show you the closest option before we cut.

Repair or replace?

When patching is suitable, and when it isn't.

A patch repair is usually suitable when the damage is local, the surrounding vinyl is well bonded and in reasonable condition, and the subfloor is dry and sound. It means less disruption, a faster fix, often a lower cost and less unnecessary material replacement.

Patching is not always possible. If the floor is lifting widely, the subfloor is wet or breaking up, or the vinyl is worn through across the room, a patch would not last. We tell you that honestly from your photos.

What you're facing

Why patch repair instead of a new floor.

01

Less disruption

Only the damaged area is worked on, so the rest of the room can usually stay in use.

02

Faster intervention

Small repairs can often be done in a single visit, stopping damage before it spreads.

03

Less waste

Keeping a sound floor in place avoids replacing material that still has years of life.

Ask on WhatsApp
Can vinyl flooring be patched?
Yes, in many cases. If the damage is local and the surrounding flooring and subfloor are sound, the damaged area can be cut out and replaced with matched vinyl, hot-welded in place.
Will a vinyl patch repair be visible?
It depends on the floor. On current ranges in good condition, a repair can be hard to spot. On faded or discontinued floors there may be a slight difference, and we show you the match before starting.
Can you patch repair safety flooring like Altro or Polyflor?
Yes. We patch safety flooring using matching safety vinyl and weld it into the existing floor.
Can you fix a previous poor repair?
Usually. We remove the old patch or filler, prepare the area and carry out a welded repair.
When is patching not suitable?
When the floor is lifting across large areas, the subfloor is wet or failing, or the vinyl is worn out widely. In those cases we will explain the alternatives.
How do I get a quote?
Send photos, a rough size and your postcode on WhatsApp (023 93 430 157) or through the contact form.
